Blyth grew as a port for Northumberland coal and still has a working harbour. The Northumberland Line, reopened to passengers in recent years, gives it rail links again, with a station at Blyth Bebside.
Older terraces cluster near the harbour, Cowpen and Newsham are mostly post-war, and South Beach is the newest part of Blyth.
Around the market place and the quay, Blyth is a town of long terraces where cars line both kerbs. Expect the driver to load from the street and to need a little room beside the car.
South Beach and Bebside were built with garages and driveways, and the cul-de-sacs leave plenty of space to manoeuvre. These are the quickest collections in NE24.
